Lake Miekojärvi has large open water areas for sailing and boating. There are fishing harbours and marinas at both ends of the lake at Sirkkakoski and Pessalompolo, and a marina at Karhumaa. A boat ramp can be found at Mäntylaki. All harbours have good slipways even for larger boats.

Before heading out, you should remember that Miekojärvi is a fairly large lake where weather conditions can change rapidly. You should master basic boating skills, fairway signs and give-way rules and bring appropriate safety equipment. Also remember to respect nature and other water users.
