Metsähallitus has end rainbow trout stocking in Lake Matildanjärvi, located in Teijo National Park, at the end of 2025. The sale and supervision of fishing permits will continue as usual until the end of March 2026. Starting in April 2026, fishing at Lake Matildanjärvi will be allowed under public fishing rights. This means angling, ice fishing and, after paying the fisheries management fee, fishing with one rod and one lure, for example with a spinning rod. In the future, fishing will be based on the lake’s natural fish populations.

The peak season currently underway in March–April attracts people to enjoy the spring snow especially in Northern Finland. At this time of year, easily transmissible illnesses such as colds and gastrointestinal infections are also circulating.
