While there are no maintained ski tracks in Viiankiaapa Mire Reserve, you can freely explore its winter nature on skis.

Viiankiaapa Mire Reserve offers good opportunities for snowshoeing but has no marked snowshoeing trails.

There are no actual waterways in Viiankiaapa Mire Reserve, but an eastern section of the area borders on the Ylijoki River, where paddling is possible.

Hunting is regulated by the Hunting Act. Local residents have the right to hunt in their home municipality in state-owned areas.

Snowmobile tracks run through Viiankiaapa area in the north to south and east to west directions. Snowmobiling in a nature reserve is only allowed on marked tracks.
