Viiankiaapa can be explored by following the nature trail that meanders through the northern and central parts of the reserve. Visitors who stay on this trail, which mainly consists of duckboards, need not worry about getting lost. If you intend to hike outside the trails in Viiankiaapa, you should bring a compass or GPS device and a paper map.
