By car
- The Tsarmitunturi wilderness reserve is located in the middle of a triangle formed by the Ivalo-Nellim road (969), the Ivalo-Raja-Jooseppi road (91), and the Russian border.
- The Tsarmitunturi wilderness reserve is easily accessible by car by driving from Ivalo towards Raja-Jooseppi (main road 91) for about 20 km, then turning north onto the Nangujärvi forest road. There are several side roads from the forest road to the boundary of the wilderness reserve. The drive from Rajajooseppi road is about 25 km.
- The northern part of the wilderness reserve can be reached by driving from Ivalo towards Nellim (regional road 969) for about 20 km, then turning east onto Kontosjärvi road. The drive from Nellim road to the boundary of the wilderness reserve is 10–20 km.
- The forest roads of Kuutua, Kontosjärvi, and Nangujärvi are in poor condition, especially in spring when the snow melts. In winter, only some roads are plowed.
