Tsarmitunturi Wilderness Reserve is small but scenically stunning, featuring impressive fell landscapes. The heart of the area is formed by the Tsarmitunturi highland and Akalauttapää, separated by the deep Pahakuru gorge. The area is also home to Finland’s northernmost continuous spruce forest. The beautiful scenery and diverse nature offer unforgettable experiences for experienced hikers.

Nature of Tsarmitunturi
The forests of the Tsarmitunturi Wilderness Reserve mainly consist of narrow, beautiful Siberian spruces. The Tsarmi spruce forest is the northernmost continuous spruce forest in Finland.

- Take the Sámi cultural environment into considerationBe respectful and do not damage the sacred sites of the Sámi people.
- Making campfire is allowed in the terrainIf a designated campfire site is available within 500 meters, you must use the site for making a fire and not create a new campfire site. Collecting fallen tree branches and twigs for your fire is fine.
- Remember to bring a trash bagThere are no waste bins in the area. Bring a trash bag and take the trash with you.
- Always keep pets on a leashTsarmitunturi is a special reindeer herding area, and disturbing the reindeer is prohibited.
- Be prepared for areas with limited or no mobile network coverageRemember to take a paper map and compass.
