Mietoistenlahti is one of the country's most valuable bird lakes and thus an excellent place for bird watching. There are three birdwatching towers in the area, two of which are located in Vasikkahaka. The path to the birdwatching towers starts from the nature cottage's parking area. The third, lower tower is located in Kuusto, where there is a guided route from Saarentie. Additionally, there is an observation rock at Sillankari.

The most popular hiking times at Mietoistenlahti are during bird migration periods in spring (April-May) and autumn (August-September).
