Hiking in Kemihaara Wilderness Reserve

The way of getting around the Wilderness Reserve is walking in the snow-free season and skiing in winter. There are no marked summer or winter trails or ski tracks, and no hiking structures apart from Uittipiekka open wilderness and shared rental hut.

Moving in this area requires initiative, hiking experience, strong skills in navigation and coping in the wild as well as careful preparation, also for sudden changes in weather conditions. You can start your hike from Kemihaara parking area on the boundary of the Wilderness Reserve, which can be reached by car in summer and winter.
