Ärjänsaari Island offers you a chance to watch magnificent weather displays from the high sand terraces of the island. Activities and trails

There are many signposted trails on Ärjänsaari Island. The longest route is a 10 km long trail that circles Ärjänsaari.

In the surroundings of Ärjänsaari, you can spend a day paddling around the island and enjoying the endless sandy beaches.

Natural Features of Ärjänsaari

Ärjänselkä, on the western side of the island, is the largest inland water area in Finland. The Finnish word “ärjä” stands for a windy place or a steep shore bank, which aptly describe the island.

  • There are movement restrictions in the areaDo not enter the bird nesting area in the Kirkkosäikkä area (i.e. the eastern tip of the island) from 1 May to 31 July. There are birds in the area whose nesting is easily interrupted if they are disturbed.
