Easy trails and nice destinations for families
The two visitor centres in the National Park are family-friendly. Our customer service provides information on the attractions of the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park and its finest hiking trails. The exhibitions at the visitor centres introduce you to local nature and culture and there are also changing art exhibitions at the centres.
Yllästunturi Visitor Centre Kellokas
- The ‘Meän elämää’ (Our Life) exhibition introduces you to local nature and culture, and a special activity booklet takes children through the exhibition.
- The Visitor Centre has hobby horses to borrow.
- There is a playground available for children in the yard of the Visitor Centre during the summer.
- The yard’s campfire shelter is available year-round.
- The yard’s Logging Museum is open according to the opening hours of the Visitor Centre.

Fell Lapland Visitor Centre
- The Vuovjjuš-Kulkijat (The Vuovjjuš - Wanderers) exhibition introduces you to Sámi culture and fell nature.
- Inside the Visitor Centre is a play area, Untuvikko, for children.
- There is a covered campfire site outside the building. The Jyppyrä campfire shelter is less than one kilometre away.

There is plenty to see near the national park
- In Kolari, visiting Pakasaivo (in Finnish) and in Muonio Äkässaivo is interesting for people of all ages. The campfire sites at the destinations and the Siberian jays that linger nearby are a delight for hikers.
- Muonio’s Särkitunturi is easy to reach, and the Särkivaara campfire shelter located halfway along the route is a good place for a break.
- From the northern village of Hetta, you can find the breathtaking Jyppyränpolku as well as the interesting Peurapolku, which offers information about the area’s history.
