Luontokeskus - Kovalampi
The Toraslampi Trail begins at the main entrance gate of the national park, where you turn right toward Luppovesi. The first 2.4 kilometers of the route follow a wide gravel-covered fitness trail. Along this section, Pärjänjoentie and Syötteentie are crossed via wooden ski bridges. The trail also passes by Luppovesi, where Syöte’s public beach is located.
After crossing Syötteentie, the trail narrows into a gravel-covered path, which continues for 400 meters before reaching a junction where you turn left onto the ski bridge crossing Syötekyläntie. The ascent and descent of the bridge are steep in profile.
After crossing the bridge, the route follows the Iso-Syöte–Kelosyöte ski trail base for 6.2 kilometers. This section begins with a boardwalk crossing over the Syötesuo mire, after which the climb to Pikku-Syöte begins. The ascent gains 95 meters over approximately two kilometers. After the climb, the trail passes the lower station of the Pikku-Syöte ski slopes and continues across Pikkusyötteentie into a short uphill section, followed by a 1.4-kilometer descent to Kelosyöte. During the descent, the trail passes under Näköalatie through a tunnel and descends a total of 70 meters.
Kovalampi - Vattukurun parkkipaikka
At Kelosyöte, the trail reaches a junction where the Toraslampi Trail and the Pitämivaara Loop diverge. From the junction, turn left and begin a four-kilometer section toward the Vattukuru parking area. This section mostly follows a narrow gravel or natural trail, with occasional rocky and root-covered parts. A few small mires are crossed via two-plank boardwalks. At the beginning of the section, there is a climb to Aurinkokallio, gaining 40 meters in elevation over a distance of about 400 meters. After the climb, the trail levels out.
Vattukurun parkkipaikka - Toraslampi
Upon reaching the Vattukuru parking area, turn left and follow the gravel road leading to the parking lot for 300 meters before crossing Syötekyläntie. After crossing the road, the trail climbs up the roadside embankment before turning into the forest and continuing toward Varpuvaara. The trail is initially flat in profile but can be technically challenging due to rocks and roots. As the trail descends from Varpuvaara, it turns into an ATV track, which may be muddy and soft in places. The descent between Varpuvaara and Karsikkoperä covers 95 meters over a distance of 2 kilometers. After crossing Karsikkoperäntie, the route follows a small sand-based road along the bank of the Pärjänjoki River. The river is crossed via a bridge. The total length of the trail section between Syötekyläntie and Pärjänjoki is 5.3 kilometers.
After crossing the Pärjänjoki River, a section of just over six kilometers begins toward Toraslampi, which includes a significant amount of riding on forest roads. This stage features many intersections, so it’s important to pay close attention to signage to ensure the correct route is followed. The terrain is mostly flat, and the roads are surfaced with sand and gravel. About 1.5 kilometers before reaching Toraslampi, the route transitions back into a narrow needle-covered forest trail.
Toraslampi - luontokeskus
Upon arriving at Toraslampi, you reach a T-junction. If you wish to take a break at the Toraslampi wilderness hut, turn right at the junction—this adds 600 meters to the trip each way. If you prefer to continue without visiting the hut, turn left and begin the final nine-kilometer section toward the nature center. The terrain on this stretch is fairly even, with the exception of a longer climb about 1.5 kilometers before the nature center. The trail consists of natural needle-covered paths and gravel-covered sections. There are some boardwalks and plank bridges for crossing streams. In places, the trail is rooty and uneven. Along the way, you’ll pass the Koiraoja and Anninkoski day huts, which are suitable for taking a break.
