Please note! On the map, the Liimanninkoski Nature Trail is shown in two separate sections. This trail description applies to the entire trail. The total length of the trail is approximately 1.3 km. The trail is not fully marked.
The Liimanninkoski Nature Trail starts from the Liimanninkoski parking area on Suokyläntie road. Next to the parking area is a sheep pasture, through which the trail passes. The pasture can be accessed through a gate at the parking area. Remember to close the gate so that the sheep do not escape from the pasture!
The trail runs for more than 0.2 km through the pasture. There is an old threshing house in the pasture that contains an exhibit of old farming implements. For information on the exhibit and its implements, see the information board inside the threshing house. The facility is accessible.
Exit the pasture through the gate and start on the trail into the forest. Remember to close the gate! After the gate, hike approximately 40 metres and then take a left.
After the junction, hike approximately 0.2 km to the Liimanninkoski rest area on the banks of the Muhosjoki River. There is a lean-to shelter, campfire site and dry toilet at the rest area. The banks of the Muhosjoki River are high and the river current is very strong, so stay alert, especially with young children.
After the rest area, the trail continues along the Muhosjoki River, following the bend, and then runs farther away from the river. After the rest area, hike for approximately 0.3 km along the banks of the river.
In the forest, the trail runs another 0.3 km back to the edge of the pasture. On this section, the trail runs along forested slopes and crosses a wooden bridge.
On the return to the sheep pasture, you will enter a different gate at the edge of the forest road than when you started out. Remember to close the gate!
Hike along the edge of the pasture for approximately 0.1 km to the gate from which you exited the pasture when you started out. On the way back, you will not have to use this gate - just hike back to the parking area for approximately 0.2 km along the same pasture route as when you started out.
