In the Liimanninkoski herb-rich forest reserve, you can explore diverse nature along the banks of the deep Muhosjoki River. The traditional landscape, winding riverbed and free-flowing rapids provide an ideal setting for day trips. Liimanninkoski is part of Rokua Geopark and the UNESCO Global Geopark network.

Activities and trails

In Liimanninkoski, it is possible to fish with permits from the Muhoskylä fishing cooperative.

The natural Muhosjoki River is a challenge for paddlers, as there are many fallen tree trunks in the river.

Visitor's checklist

  • The destination is a nature reserveEveryman’s Right are not valid as such in the nature reserve.
  • Camp only at permitted camping sitesCamping is only permitted in the immediate vicinity of designated rest and campfire sites, and huts.
  • Make campfires only in designated sitesDuring a wildfire warning, making fires is prohibited.
  • Remember to bring a trash bagThere is no recycling point in the area. Bring a trash bag and take the trash with you.
  • Always keep pets on a leashIn summer, there are sheep in the reserve. Don't let your pet disturb the sheep! Dog droppings must be swept off the trails to the side.
