Kaunislampi lives up to its name. This dazzlingly beautiful ravine pond is not within the Syöte National Park but is located in a separate 198-hectare protected old-growth forest area. It is about a 35-kilometer drive north of the Syöte Nature Center.

The 6.5 km long trail circles around Kaunislampi. The easy-to-walk path starting from the Ruuhensuo road parking area initially goes through a logging area, but the scenery improves as you approach the pond. After a 2 km walk, the journey continues into the heart of the protected area. The trail around Kirkaslampi goes through slightly more challenging terrain, but the views from the small cliffs of the ravine pond are stunning. On the south side of the pond, there is a day cabin where you can take a break and warm up by the fire. The shortest route from the parking area to the day cabin is 2.5 km.

Kaunislampi day cabin has a covered fireplace kitchen. In the yard area of the day cabin, there is a woodshed and a dry toilet.
The Kaunislampi trail is challenging in terms of terrain. However, those who circle Kaunislampi will encounter diverse nature, charming details, and magnificent views. On the north side of Kaunislampi, the lushness along the stream, small ponds peeking out from the middle of the swamp, and ancient twisted pines await you.
