The trail is marked with yellow paint blazes on trees, which should be followed carefully. The wettest sections of the trail are covered with duckboards.
The trail begins at the Hangassalmenaho parking area. At the starting point, there is a lean-to shelter and a dry toilet.
The trail follows the Martimoaapa hiking path for the first 4.4 kilometers. At Poropellonaho, the Järviaapa trail branches off to the right.
At the end, the Järviaapa trail connects to the Martimoaapa nature trail, which leads 400 meters back to the starting point.
