The horseback riding trail is marked with horseback rider signs. The trail starts from the Aulanko riding stable (Aulangonkuja), from which the trail runs along the shoreline of Lake Vanajavesi toward the tennis courts. At the tennis courts, riders must cross the busy Aulangontie road.
After crossing Aulangontie road, riders will be in the nature reserve. The horseback riding trail runs mainly along the edges of the nature reserve, alternating between its own dedicated track and shared trails. There are steep hills along the trail, especially when riding down from Aulangonvuori Hill towards Lake Aulangonjärvi.
The steep slope of Aulangonvuori Hill can be bypassed by taking an alternative route, which cuts between Lake Joutsenlampi and Lake Metsälampi and joins a longer horseback riding trail along the northern boundary of the nature reserve. The final stretch of trail bypasses the Onnentemppeli pavilion and then crosses Aulangontie road again at Aulangonkuja.
