Connecting route: Ivalo - Karigasniemi (updated 16.5.2022)

This gravel back road via the village of Angeli avoids most of the busy Road 4 between Ivalo/Inari region and Karigasniemi at the Norwegian border. No services at all between Inari and Karigasniemi, so stock up well before getting on this one.

ROUTE DIFFICULTY RATING

Green = Very easy route on mostly smooth gravel or small paved road with no traffic. Suitable for any bicycle with any skill level.

Blue = Easy route, which could be single track, quad track or a gravel road, which can be ridden with a mountain bike with basic cycling skills or with a gravel bike with basic mountain biking skills.

Red = Moderate difficulty route often on single track or quad track, which requires basic mountain biking skills and can be partly physically or technically demanding. Recommended to ride with a mountain bike, but mostly rideable with a gravel bike with advanced mountain biking skills.

Black = Demanding route on often rough and/or narrow single track or quad track, which requires advanced mountain biking skills and still, might require hike-a-biking in some parts. Suitable for mountainbikes only.

Magenta = Paved easy route with frequent and potentially dangerous traffic. Be especially aware of two wide vehicles, such as lorries or caravans passing each other near you.
