Fishing in Vätsäri

In Vätsäri wilderness, in addition to Lake Inarijärvi, other lakes, rivers and fjords in the area offer countless fishing opportunities.
The large open water areas and long fjords of Lake Inarijärvi, which are deep within the wilderness, are prime destinations for fishermen in Vätsäri. Vätsäri fell plateau and the forest area are covered by numerous lakes and rivers where you can fish in peace.

When fishing in lakes and ponds with one rod, Fisheries Management Fee, (eraluvat.fi) . Flowing waters require an additional Vätsäri area angling permit.(eraluvat.fi).

Skiing in Vätsäri

Vätsäri Wilderness Reserve offers challenges for independent wilderness wanderers. There are no marked ski trails, so ski hikers must have appropriate winter hiking equipment. There are a few open wilderness huts in the area, which ski hikers can also utilise.

Hunting in Vätsäri

Vätsäri is a barren area for hunting, but in early autumn, geese and other waterfowl can be found on the bogs and their edges on the northern shore of Lake Inarijärvi, later in the autumn also Willow Grouse (Lagopus lagopus).

Hunting is of great importance to local residents as a form of recreation. In Vätsäri, the most important prey animals of local hunters are Western Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) and elk (Alces alces).
Those living permanently in the municipalities of Enontekiö, Inari and Utsjoki have a free hunting right on state-owned lands in their home municipality.
