Syöte Hiking Structures

Syöte National Park has an extensive network of hiking structures. Here, you can experience a wilderness atmosphere, yet still enjoy services.

Campfire sites, cooking shelters, and day huts

  • Rest areas are shared resting places, please be considerate of other hikers.
  • There is no waste management at the rest areas, so please take your trash with you.
  • Lighting fires is allowed only at maintained and designated fire pits.
  • Always check the current forest fire warning before lighting a fire. During a forest fire warning, fire making is restricted.
  • There are firewood supplies ready at the fire pits. Remember to only use a reasonable amount of wood.
  • Do not burn trash or peel bark from living trees. Small amounts of clean paper and cardboard can be used as kindling.
  • The last person to leave the fire pit is always responsible for extinguishing the fire.

Drinking water

  • Natural waters are recommended to be boiled before use as drinking water.
  • Do not wash dishes or bathe directly in the water bodies or on the well cover.
  • Remember to absorb used wash water into the ground sufficiently far away from water bodies or water points.

Toilets

  • Remember to bring your own toilet paper.
  • A small amount of food scraps can be placed in the dry toilet.

Waste disposal

  • Do not burn trash, but take it with you.
  • Remember to take trash bags with you when you go on a hike.
  • Food scraps must not be thrown into nature.
