Bird watching
While hiking in Siikalahti, you can hear dozens of songbirds and witness hundreds of wingbeats. Over the course of a year, up to 200 bird species can be observed. The spring migration peaks around May Day and Mother’s Day. Around 70 species stay to nest in the area, offering plenty of fascinating broods to observe. It's possible to spot over 100 bird species in a single day. Siikalahti and the Parikkala region are also renowned as Finland’s best area for nocturnal songbirds.
