Hiking services in Pyhä-Luosto
There are plenty of marked rest sites along the trails in the Pyhä-Luosto National Park where you can make a campfire: lean-to shelters, campfire huts, cooking shelters and day-use huts. Rest sites have toilets. There are few opportunities for drawing water, so it is a good idea to plan your water supply well in advance. Remember rubbish-free hiking in the national park as there are no waste bins in the terrain.
Campfire sites
- Lighting fires is only allowed at serviced and designated campfire sites, using the wood provided in the wood sheds.
- Remember that you may have to chop up the wood yourself with tools provided in the wood shed. It is easier to make fire with smaller wood pieces. Please use the firewood sparingly.
- Before you light a fire, always check if any wildfire warnings are in effect in the area. When a wildfire warning has been issued, lighting fires is restricted to huts and covered campire sites with fireplaces off the ground and a flue through the roof, practicing extreme caution. Please note that making fire can be prohibited on a site-by-site basis.
- Do not burn rubbish or tear off bark from living trees. You can use a small amount of clean paper and cardboard to light your fire.
- As campfire sites are shared resting places, you should show consideration towards other hikers.
- The last person to leave the campfire site is always responsible for putting out the fire.
