Road closure to Patvinsuo National Park on the first weekend of September
The Uimaharjuntie road (road 5202) leading to Patvinsuo National Park will be intermittently closed from September 5th at 07:00 until September 6th, 2025 at 14:00 due to a military exercise.

The Suomu lakeside sauna, located on the shore of Lake Suomunjärvi in Patvinsuo National Park, is now available for booking through the Eräluvat.fi online store.

Located along the Suomunkierto Trail in Patvinsuo National Park, the Arkkusalmi Bridge has now been reopened. The old, deteriorated bridge was dismantled in winter 2024-25 and has been completely rebuilt.
Movement in the restricted areas is only allowed on marked trails
In the Patvinsuo National Park, there are restrictions in the marsh areas around Teretti, Hulkkonen, Lahnasuo, and Surkansuo, as well as at Iso-Hietajärvi, which are in effect from early spring until mid-July. Movement in the restricted areas is only allowed on marked trails. The restrictions are in place to protect, among other things, the courtship and nesting of birds.

The water in Pirskanlampi, located along the Patvinkierros trail in Patvinsuo National Park, is not recommended for drinking. Swimming in the water is also not advisable. Poison hemlock (Cicuta virosa) grows in the pond.
The Nälmänjoki pull ferry is in use
The Nälmänjoki pull ferry along the Patvinkierto trail in Patvinsuo National Park has been launched after the winter. The route is once again passable as a circular trail.
Excavation work on the Suomu meadow in week 20
The meadow belonging to the Suomun house yard will be restorated during the excavation work in week 20. Moss from the surface layer will be removed from the meadow.
Prepare for the thawing season in Patvinsuo National Park
In Patvinsuo National Park, the thawing season is usually at its worst around late April to early May. The poor condition of Suomuntie requires patience from drivers. In the marshes, floods can rise above the boardwalks, and rubber boots are the best footwear choice well into spring.
The pull ferry on the Nälmänjoki River will be launched in May.
