Palotunturi Trail is a four-kilometre day trip.
Palotunturi fell is located in Posio, near the village of Pernu. A two-kilometre walk takes you to the top of Palotunturi fell, where you will find magnificent views northwards and the Palotunturi open wilderness hut.

When you reach the top of the Palotunturi fell, sit down and take a moment to admire the hill landscape that opens up on the horizon. On the way to the top, you will walk past Pikku Palotunturi fell, which peeks between the old-growth forest. Closer to the peak, there are small mires that glow beautifully orange during the autumn colour season.

Temporary camping in the area is allowedWe recommend camping in designated camping areas, which are equipped with built campfire site and a dry toilet.
Making campfire is allowed in the terrainIf a designated campfire site is available within 500 meters, you must use the site for making a fire and not create a new campfire site. Collecting fallen tree branches and twigs for your fire is fine.
Remember to bring a trash bagThere is a waste container in the parking area. Bring a garbage bag and take the garbage to the waste container.
Always keep pets on a leashAlso remember a dog waste bag and clean up after your dog.
