Bird watching in Auttiköngäs
There is an abundance of bird species in the area, and the Auttiköngäs Nature Trail is suitable for birdwatching. You can see bird species of old-growth forests, such as the black woodpecker and Eurasian three-toed woodpecker, along the trail. Common denizens of the area also include brambling, common redstart and crossbill. With a bit of luck, you might even catch a glimpse of a golden eagle gliding high above, scanning the ground for prey. The white-throated dipper thrives all year round by the flowing waters of the Auttijoki River, and in some years rare grey wagtail have also been spotted at the edge of the cascade.
