The 120 mm trail heads towards the northern parts of the island, passing through coastal meadows and old-growth forests on its way to the wide open western shore. The name of this trail, 120 mm, refers to the remains of a 120 mm artillery battery along the way. Fine natural meadows and heaths are found near the northern tip of the island. A splendid sea view opens out from the northern tip, where old fortifications can also still be seen.

Parts of the northern trail lead through fenced-in pastures where pets and bicycles are not allowed. To avoid the pasture, cyclists are guided to follow the cobblestone and gravel roads leading across the island.
The start of the trail can be found at around 600 m from the barracks.
When walking clockwise, the trail follows the same route along the cobblestone road as the southern trail for a distance of some 700 metres.
It continues along the western shore towards the northern tip, where a lookout point can be reached by going off the trail for a distance of 200 metres.
From the northern tip, the trail turns back south along the eastern side of the island. You can either follow the cobblestone road back to the starting point or stay on the trail that leads you through the fenced-in pasture near the shore.
The distance from the northern tip back to the starting point through the pasture is approximately 2.7 km.
