On Savottapolku trail, you follow in the footsteps of lumberjacks on the old cycling trail between the huts of Lortikka and Heretty. On this fairly time-consuming trail, visitors will be able to admire the Latokuusikko spruce grove, the hilly terrain of Isojärvi and handiwork of beavers at Hevosjärvi.

Savottapolku trail starts at the corner of the sauna behind the Heretty summer café. This trail features height differences, steep terrain and rocky ground. You will face the most difficult terrain in the first part of the trail. Trail markings: white diamonds.
The Vahterjärvi lean-to shelter is located at roughly the halfway point of the trail.
Tip: At Vahterjärvi, you can choose Jätkän polku trail marked with red triangles. This will give you a total distance of approx. 20 km and take 8 to 10 hours.
Towards the end of the trail, you can return to the Heretty Loggers’ Cabin along the old bicycle road that was hand-levelled by loggers back in the day. The trail is partly graveled and also used by mountain bikers.
