Rock paintings of a deer and a boat can be seen in the Sarkaslampi area. In addition, a prehistoric quartz quarry is found in a coarse-grained granite pegmatite sequence in the lower part of the flaky rock face on the eastern shore of Ristilampi. The trail is about 5 km long and crosses varied and challenging terrain. It is also worth visiting the Karihiekka, a sandy beach on the north side of the Sarkaslampi rock formation, in the eastern part of the Luonteri water body. It forms an arc 300 m long and the northern end of the beach turns into a narrow headland towards the outcrop. It is accessible by car, and there is also a harbour for excursions.
Arrival: There is no public transport to the Sarkaslampi area, so the most convenient way to reach it is by car or also by bike. The Ristilampi-Sarkaslampi complex is located in Uimasalo along the Viisalanmäki road. Coming from the north, from the direction of Juva city centre, Ristilampi and the trailhead are on the left side of the road. From the south, coming from Mikkeli and Puumala, Kuparonvirta ferry is on the way. So take the ferry timetable into account when planning a trip to the area around Sarkaslampi. There is a small parking area next to the road on the shore of Ristilampi.
