The Papinpalo nature trail starts from the Papinpalo parking area on Papinpalontie in the municipality of Ranua. The parking area has an information board presenting information about the nature of the area.
The trail runs approximately 0.6 km south from the parking area and then curves sharply to the right. This first stage is the driest part of the path.
The remaining 1.7 km section of the path to the birdwatching tower crosses wet terrain, occasionally climbing up to islets of mire heath forest. Please note that, due to the extremely poor condition of the duckboards and bridges on the path, this is a very demanding hike!
You will return to the parking area on the same path. Located approximately 0.5 km from the birdwatching tower, the Tervo lean-to shelter is situated on a mineral soil islet at the western edge of Tervonsuo mire. An unmarked trail runs from the Tervo lean-to shelter to the Haaramaa lean-to shelter.
