The trail from Palolampi to Allaslahti is accessible during the snow-free season. In winter, the trail can be traveled by skiing or snowshoeing. Mountain biking is not prohibited, but due to the extremely rocky terrain, it is not recommended. Especially near the Hiidenportti Gorge, the trail is quite demanding because of the rugged terrain. There are also some moderately steep ascents and descents. The trail traverses the typical mire and heath landscapes of Hiidenportti National Park. At Allaslahti, the path connects to the Talonpojan Taival trail leading to Valtimo.
