There are about 17 kilometers of marked hiking trails around the Manamansalo campsite. The trails run on the island's dry pine forests. By following the paths, you can get to know many special features of Manamansalo's nature.

Around Manamansalo camping area, there are about 17 kilometres in total of hiking paths. The paths lead through the island's dry pine forests and offer hikers several optional route choices.
The shortest route from Manamansalo campsite circles Teerilampi Lake before returning to the starting point. The total length of this trail is around 2.6 km, and it mainly stays in the pine forests near Teerilampi. There are no campfire sites along the trail, but you only need to go off the trail for a distance of 0.1 km to reach the nearest campfire site on the shore of Lake Särkinen.
Hikers can also choose a path that leads around Lake Särkinen. To reach this path, you first walk a distance of around 0.6 km to the actual circle trail, the length of which is approx. 4.0 km after the first leg. The trail leads around Lake Särkinen, also taking in the shores of Lakes Syväjärvi and Kota-Peura. The trail crosses Puronrannantie road twice. There are several campfire sites along the trail, or a short distance off it.
The longest path of around 11 km starts from Manamansalo camping area and initially follows the shores of Lake Oulujärvi to Makkaraniemi for a distance of about 3.5 kilometres. The trail takes in many small lakes with clear waters, and there are several campfire sites along the path or a short way off it. There is a campfire hut and toilet in Makkaraniemi.
From Makkaraniemi, the trail continues south along the eastern shores of Manamansalo for around 1 km before turning towards the inner parts of the island.
The inland section mainly leads through pine forests that make for easy walking, before reaching the campfire site on the shore of Lake Särkinen after around 2 km. Here the trail divides, and hikers can choose either fork of the path along the shores of the lake.
The trail that continues south from Särkinen is the longer option. It first follows the shore of Lake Särkinen for 0.6 km to the high point separating Lakes Särkinen and Syväjärvi and crosses Puronrannantie road.
After the high point, the trail reaches Syväjärvi Lake after 0.3 km. From Syväjärvi, the trail continues for approx. 0.6 km to a junction of hiking trails. From this point, you can either continue straight on or take a path 0.4 km in length that leads you to Iso-Peura campfire hut located between two small lakes named Soikko-Peura and Iso-Peura.
If you go straight on for 0.1 km, the trail turns towards the shore of Kota-Peura. Kota-Peura is one of the numerous small lakes with clear waters in Manamansalo. The trail follows the northern shore of Kota-Peura for 0.2 km and then goes north for a distance of 0.7 km. On this section, you cross Puronrannantie road once more.
The next junction is located between the small Lake Kokkojärvi and the larger Lake Särkinen. You can now choose to head for Särkinen hut, the distance to which is 0.3 km, or continue along for 0.7 km between the lakes and along the southern shore of Särkinen to the next trail junction.
At the junction, the trail branches once more. The last leg back to Manamansalo is around 0.5 km in length, or you can choose a longer route towards the northern shore of Lake Särkinen and back to Särkinen campfire site, the distance to which is about 1.1 km from this junction. There is a lean-to shelter along the way, before which the trail branches again, offering hikers an opportunity to go around Teerilampi Lake.
The distance around Teerilampi from this trail junction and back to Manamansalo campsite is about 1.5 km.
