You can hike the trail section on the western side of Kaaranneskoskentie road to Orhinselänniemi and Raakonvaara (length approx. 7.5 km). On this trail you can admire the open lake landscapes of Miekojärvi from both high up on Raakonvaara and the magnificent shores of Orhinselänniemi and Raakonlahti with their soft sands. At the campfire sites near the water, you can have an unhurried picnic, enjoying the peace and beauty of the lake environment around you. The trail is marked with wooden poles and white paint dots.

You can hike the trail section on the western side of Kaaranneskoskentie road to Orhinselänniemi and Raakonvaara (length approx. 7.5 km). The trails on the eastern side of Kaaranneskoskentie road towards Lake Vietonen are no longer maintained, and their use is not recommended due to the poor condition of the trail and signs.
For those arriving by boat or kayak/canoe, the most convenient approach is to land at Orhinselänniemi or in Raakonlahti Bay.
If you arrive by car, you can head out on the trail from Kaaranneskoskentie, a forest road on the eastern side of Raakonvaara. There are no official parking areas, but cars can be parked on Kaaranneskoskentie where the trail meets the road. When parking, please make sure you do not block the road for other traffic. The signs pointing the way from the road to the trail are in poor condition.
On the trail section Kaaranneskoskentie-Orhinselänniemi, the wettest points have duckboards. However, around 1.2 km of the trail is eroded and occasionally muddy, making it more challenging. This section begins approx. 350 metres after Kaaranneskoskentie road when walking towards Orhinselänniemi. Waterproof footwear is recommended, especially in wet weather.
The trail section Raakonlahti-Kaaranneskoskentie climbs over Raakonvaara hill and is rocky in places.
There is a hut, a lean-to shelter and two campfire sites at Orhinselänniemi. When a forest fire warning has been issued, lighting fires is only allowed in the hut. There is also a toilet and a wood shed at the campsite. In Raakonlahti, there is a lean-to shelter, wood shed and toilet.
