Hike through the varied forests of Linnansaari Island, from the sun-baked rocks to the cool shade of deciduous woods. The circle trail culminates with spectacular views of the Saimaa archipelago from the top of Linnavuori Rock. The old meadow of Linnansaari Croft remains alongside the trail The meadow is still tended by mowing. There are significant differences in elevation along the trail, which is criss-crossed by roots and rocks. Linnansaarenlampi Pond is crossed on a duckboard bridge with railings. The duckboards can be very slippery when wet. The scenic lookout on Linnavuori Rock is reached by climbing metal stairs. There are steps for dogs on the steel grate stairs. At the starting point of the trail, Sammakkoniemi has comprehensive hiking structures and service offerings for entrepreneurs. The Perpulanluhta excursion harbour and its hiking structures are located at the halfway point of the trail.

When travelling clockwise, the first part of the trail runs along rocky terrain close to the shore. This section is part of the separately described “Linnonpolku”.
Head towards Linnavuori.
Linnavuori is about 250 metres from the main trail.
Soon after Linnavuori, you will arrive at the Perpulanluhta excursion harbour. This is a lovely spot to rest and have a bite to eat.
The route can be shortened by turning sharply to the right, towards Perpulanluhta, at the intersection about 1.5 kilometers after the bridge. This way, the route does not go to Linnavuori
Camping at Sammakkoniemi Camping (oravivillage.com) is permitted between 1 May and 15 December. Camping at the Sammakkoniemi camping area is subject to a fee during regular boat service in the summer. An accessible, front-boarding boat serves the island from Midsummer to the end of August.
For variable terrain, you should wear sturdy waterproof shoes, such as all-terrain runners or walking boots.
