Kuoppilas summer trail brings hikers from the village of Utsjoki directly to the open fells of Paistunturi Wilderness Reserve and Lake Kuoppilasjärvi. An open wilderness hut, a Lapp hut and some campfire sites can be found along the trail. This circle trail is 35 kilometres in length and consequently well suited for a hike of one to two nights.

Starting pointMiessipolku 4, 99980 Utsjoki
The northern starting point of the trail is in the village of Utsjoki. The trail can also be accessed from Mantojärvi Church.
The trail mainly leads through open fells towards Lake Kuoppilasjärvi and the open wilderness hut on its southern shore.
From here, the trail continues along the Námmájohka River to Nammajärvi hut.
It then goes on across fell uplands towards Mantojärvi Church and descends to the river bank. After fording the Badjeseavttet River, hikers descend to the village of Mantojoki.
The section from Mantojärvi to Utsjoki takes in Heargevarri campfire site and the Vuolleseavttet River valley. The trail climbs to Vuolleseavttetvárri Fell (299 m) before returning to Utsjoki village. The distance back to the parking Reserve along the road is one kilometre.
