When leaving the Koivistonvati parking area, you should first take a look at the Koivistonvati depression, which is the largest such suppa depression in the Hämeenkangas area. The depression is close to the parking area. There is also a well near the parking area at the side of the gravel road.
The trail can be reached by climbing up to the cooking shelter at the top of the esker from the parking area. In addition to the cooking shelter, the Koivistonvati rest area has a dry toilet and lean-to shelter. The trail runs past the lean-to shelter and continues as a narrow forest path along the northern slope of the esker.
Visitors can climb to the top of the Niiniharju esker on a relatively steep slope and then cross a forest road. There is an accessible Niinikota campfire hut and dry toilet at Niiniharju. Close to Niinikota is a linden grove, which is a remnant of the warming period that followed the last Ice Age.
From Niinikota, the trail turns back towards Koivistonvati. First, the trail runs along an accessible section, until it turns off to a narrower forest trail.
Then, the trail heads toward Koivistonvati through pine-dominated esker forests. The trail also has a few climbs and descents.
