The Herajärvenkierros Trail runs through the national park and allows for multi-day hiking. The southern section of the trail was established in 2011 and complements the already classic northern loop. The southern part of the Herajärvenkierros is demanding due to its elevation changes.

The Sikosalmi cable ferry along the Herajärvi Trail is in operation.

The Sikosalmi cable ferry at the southern end of Herajärvi, along the Herajärvi Trail, is back on the water after the winter. The southern and northern sections of the Herajärvi Trail can now be completed again as a circular route.

Hiking season of Herajärvenkierros Trail starts usually in May

Hiking on the Herajärvenkierros trail in Koli National Park and its surroundings becomes possible in the spring when the crossing at Sikosalmi melts enough for the pull ferry to be used. We will announce this on the Koli National Park's What's New page.
