The trail starts at Jämi Centre. First, we walk to the foot of the Soininharju esker behind Jämi Areena.
The trail initially runs toward the esker at ground level and then climbs the sand slope toward the viewing tower. At this point, visitors should not miss taking in the surrounding landscape from the viewing tower.
The trail continues as a wide forest path, in a bright pine forest along the Soininharju esker, until it descends and crosses the road.
The trail continues to descend below the slope and runs for some distance through a flat pine forest along a narrower forest path. The trail soon begins ascending a steep slope towards the Jämi-Jukola lean-to shelter.
The trail continues around the Niiniharjunvati depression to the Niiniharju esker, where hikers will find a small linden grove and the accessible Niinikota campfire hut and dry toilet. From Niiniharju, the trail turns back towards the Soininharju esker, which has a viewing tower. The trail descends along the sandy esker back to the starting point.
At the Niinikota campfire hut, you can leave the Harjuluontopolku trail and join the Koivistonkierros trail, in which case you can hike both trails in a figure eight loop. The total length of the two trails is approximately ten kilometres.
