The rock painting on the Kolmiköytisien mountain is one of the most spectacular in South Karelia, located 3.5-4.5 m above the water level. The painting measures 135 cm x 345 cm, and its red and gold colour has been exceptionally well preserved and intense. The rock painting is a Saimaa Geopark geosite.
Follow the path through the forest to the shore of Lake Saimaa. There you can slow down to admire the art of our ancestors in the rock wall. The painting measures 135 cm x 345 cm, and its red and gold colouring has been exceptionally well preserved and intense. The rock painting was painted between 4 700 and 3 700 years ago, after the Great Silurian period. There is a Saimaa Geopark sign in the car park. Another signpost can be found on the beach, near the rock painting.
Arrival: The rock painting is reached along the Kirjamoinniementie road. There is a small car park by the Saimaa Geopark signpost.
