There you can see the nearby bay and de Geer moraine ridges. Märaryggbro also serves as a platform to see fish. Especially in the spring, the stream buzzes when thousands of pike, perch and roach come up the stream to spawn in Bodvattnet. The total length of the trail back and forth is 3.1 kilometres. There are benches for resting along the demanding accessible trail. There is an accessible campfire site at the observation tower. There are accessible toilets at the starting point and the observation tower. There are accessible tables and benches next to the Saltkaret Tower and near the Bodback monument. There is an information roof on the parking area with the main signs and information about Kvarken Archipelago World Heritage area. For children there is an infowall with tasks.
The first approximately 300 metres is a wide gravel road, which leads to a junction with signs pointing left towards a compact, gravelled trail. This demanding accessible trail leads to Bodback’s old harbour.
The distance to Bodback is 1.2 kilometres in one direction. Bodback, the former fish harbour of the village of Björkö, is currently a museum area with numerous boathouses and boat havens.
The only accessible way back to the junction is along the same trail.
If you continue along the wide gravel road, you will arrive at the Saltkaret Observation Tower. The observation tower is approximately 500 metres from the junction. There is a wind-up soundbox along the trail that allows you to listen to the sounds of nature and a brief presentation of the impact of post-glacial rebound on the landscape.
The lower platform of the observation tower is accessible. A 44-metre-long ramp with railings leads to the lower platform of the tower.
From the tower, you can continue further to the Märaryggbro trail bridge, from where you can admire the view and fish swimming to spawning grounds in the spring.
The trail returns to the parking area along the same route.
