In the upstairs exhibition space of Koli Nature Centre Ukko, sculptures by Jonna Salonen (born 1982, Imatra) are on display from 22 March to 16 May 2026. Salonen is a Joensuu-based sculptor whose themes draw inspiration from nature and from life itself. The exhibition opening will take place on Sunday 22 March from 12:00. Both the opening event and the exhibition have free admission.
Jonna Salonen carves detailed works in wood using a knife and chisels and also combines different materials. Her works are rooted in ecological thinking. They reflect a lifelong relationship with nature – its presence and its absence. The pieces are born out of life: from the call of the black woodpecker, from following lynx tracks, from lying in the snow, from the sounds of willow tits, from the walk of the common toad, or from the quiet sunsets after forest logging.
