The official starting and ending point of the Karhunkierros Trail has been relocated from Ruka Village to Saarua in Eastern Ruka.
Previously, the Karhunkierros Trail ended to the west of Ruka Village and passed through the Ruka ski area. The area is under continuous development, and the current trail alignment poses challenges for hiking safety and visitor guidance, particularly in the ski area and at intersections with biking routes.
By moving the trail’s starting point to Saarua, the safety and clarity of the route will improve. In the future, the Karhunkierros Trail will end at the Saarua parking area. As a result, the official total length of the hiking trail will be shortened by approximately one kilometre and will be 81 kilometres in total.
The new trail alignment has been updated on the Luontoon.fi website in both the map and the trail description.
