Bookings of rental and shared rental huts, as well as other sites available for booking for 2027, will open on Tuesday May 5th 2026 at 9:00am on Eraluvat.fi.
Metsähallitus has around 130 rental and shared rental huts located across Finland. You can explore the available options on Eraluvat.fi.
A locked rental hut is a shelter and an accommodation option for hikers in nature protection areas or wilderness areas. Only the group with a booking can stay overnight in the hut. After payment, the renter receives information on how to access the hut key. Rental huts can typically be booked for a maximum of one week. Each hut’s specific booking period is stated on its page.
In a shared rental hut, you can book a bed for a night or two. You share the hut with other hikers. A reservable hut may also be part of, or connected to, an open wilderness hut.
In addition to huts, Eraluvat.fi also offers short-term bookings for sites such as rental campfire huts (kotas), saunas, tent sites, and cooking shelters.
We are updating the prices of some rental sites. The changes are due to increased maintenance costs and the harmonisation of pricing, so that huts of a similar standard will in the future be mostly similarly priced.Costs are increased in particular by long distances, as many huts are located far from roads and maintenance requires demanding transport. Metsähallitus’ aim is not to generate profit from rental sites, but to cover the costs arising from their operation with rental income.
Up-to-date prices are always shown in the Eräluvat.fi service when making a booking.
