Anni Kristiina ja Milja Hakkarainen - The Multiform - exhibition

Artists Anni Kristiina and Milja Hakkarainen have an exhibition, The multiform, at Galleria Kellokas from 5 August to 9 September 2026. The multiform explores the relationship between human and nature through folklore, symbolic references, and natural materials. The exhibition and the work of art is united by slow craft processes, the use of recycled materials, and the theme of change.

Anni Kristiina works with pencil drawing. She draws people and the human body combining realistic representation, with symbolic expression. Her works explore emotional states, inner conflicts, and different relationships. The works deal with the relationship between humans and nature, and some kind of metamorphosis. Humans merge with nature, and reality with the imaginary.

Milja Hakkarainen works with recycled and natural materials, particularly wood and reclaimed sheet metal. Her sculptures emerge through a dialogue between craftsmanship and the inherent qualities of the materials. They bring together contrasting elements: hard and soft, organic and industrial, past and present. Hakkarainen draws inspiration from myths, Karelian incantation traditions, and
archaeological remains, reflecting ways of understanding the relationship between humans and the natural world.
