You can undertake a multi-day hike along the UKK trail. The hike requires prior hiking experience and skills in navigation and survival. Along the UKK trail, you can, for example, hike to the Nuortti hiking trail.

The national hiking route, UKK Hiking Trail passes through the wilderness area.

Just to the north of Tuntsa Wilderness Area is Värriö Strict Nature Reserve. To enter the strict nature reserve or hike within it visitors must have a permit.
