You can fish for free by angling and ice fishing in the ponds and lakes of the wilderness reserve. For any other type of fishing, individuals aged 18-69 must pay the fisheries management fee (eraluvat.fi) and obtain the appropriate fishing permit.
You can fish in the area with the Metsähallitus Eastern Lapland fishing permit 3410 (eraluvat.fi). However, this permit does not allow fishing in private waters, other Metsähallitus fishing sites (former recreational fishing sites), joint permit areas, full fishing rights lease waters, or special waters.
In the headwaters of the Värriö River, you can also fish with the unified permit for the Yli-Kemi lure fishing area. Fishing permits can be purchased from the Korvatunturi Visitor Center, where you can also get more information. Additionally, fishing permits are sold by tourism companies in the Salla (visitsalla.fi) and Savukoski (savukoski.fi, in finnish) areas.
