Tervaniemi and Soininsaari Outdoor Area is a versatile recreation area by the shore of Lake Alajärvi in Hämeenlinna. Beautiful scenery and refreshing nature invite you to relax and spend some time in nature. There is plenty to do even for a whole day.

Tervaniemi has something to do for the whole family all year round. Versatile hiking paths, swimming beach, beach volley pitch, campfire hut and dogs’ swimming place invite you to spend the day outdoors in the summer. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you can take the wooded trail that takes you around the Tervaniemi headland following the shoreline.
In the winter, you can ski on the lit cross-country skiing track. There is a whipsledge on the ice by the shore. When the ice on the lake becomes thick enough, you can skate all the way to Soininsaari island along a tour skating route. The cross-country skiing network takes you all the way to Suvipielinen, Katinkoski and Ahvenisto.
Soininsaari is a large, uninhabited, wooded natural island on Alajärvi. It offers an opportunity to find peace and quiet and experience genuine solitude near the city. The island is very wooded with lush vegetation, and it has very rich birdlife. The Soininsaari nature conservation areas have small-leaved lime forests where walking is permitted.
The island has a campfire site and a lean-to shelter, as well as a walking trail and a swimming place.
