Staying over night

  • Camping and tent camping in the Sompio Strict Nature Reserve is only allowed on the shores of Lake Sompiojärvi, and you may stay there for a maximum of three days at one time. There is a lean-to shelter, a Lapp 'kota' hut and campfire sites on the shore of Lake Sompiojärvi, which can be used for overnight stays.
  • The Palovartijantupa -hut at Pyhä-Nattanen serves as a weather shelter; it does not have a stove, and there is no fireplace at the summit. Overnight stays are not allowed in the cabin.
  • The Nalijoki lean-to shelter is intended for day use only, and overnight stays are not permitted.
  • When camping, be considerate towards other hikers and those staying overnight. They may be tired after their day’s hike and wish to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.
