Salla can also be conveniently reached by public transportation. Trains (vr.fi) go as far as Kemijärvi, which is about 77 kilometres from the Sallatunturi Ski Resort and national park. The trip from Kemijärvi to Salla National Park takes approximately one and a half hours by bus (matkahuolto.fi).

Buses (matkahuolto.fi) run between Salla and Kuusamo, Salla and Kemijärvi, and Salla and Savukoski.

• There is a bus stop at Sallatunturi between Salla and Kuusamo.
• Between Savukoski and Salla, the bus stop is in the village of Salla.
• On the Salla-Kemijärvi main road (No. 82), there is also a bus stop called Paikanselkä, which is located approximately 0.5 km from the intersection of the forest road leading to Salmijoki ravine.
