The Lapinsalmi Bridge in Repovesi National Park has been closed
The Lapinsalmi Bridge in Repovesi National Park has been closed indefinitely since January 2024. From the Lapinsalmi parking area, you can access the trails via the Ketunlossi ferry. Also remember the Saarijärvi and Tervajärvi parking areas.

Numerous fallen trees on Repovesi trails – clearing has begun
A large number of trees have fallen on the hiking trails in Repovesi National Park during the spring and winter. Smaller trunks have already been cleared, but the removal of larger trees and debris has only just begun.
The Ketunlossi cable ferry has been opened
The Ketunlossi cable ferry in Repovesi National Park has been opened for the summer season 2025. The ferry can accommodate 8 people at a time and one crossing takes a few minutes, so the ferry can become congested during busy times. From the Lapinsalmi parking area, you can now access the national park trails again. The Lapinsalmi bridge is not in use, so the Ketunlenkki trail cannot be completed in its entirety.
Connections to Hillosensalmi train stop and Lapinsalmi with public transportation
Some train services will stop again at Hillosensalmi train stop starting from April 26th. A bus from Hillosensalmi to Lapinsalmi parking area will be waiting for train passengers at the station. The goal is that from Lapinsalmi parking area, one can access the trails at least with Ketunlossi. The opening date of Lapinsalmi bridge is still unknown.

Incorrect directions may lead drivers along forest roads that are unsuitable or impassable.

The rocks, southern slopes, and shores are revealed from under the snow early in the spring. Deeper in the forest and in the hollows, the last remnants of snow linger significantly longer. The trails in Repovesi are not usually prone to flooding, but some areas may be muddy. We recommend sturdy, moisture-resistant hiking or trekking shoes for your trip.
