Palakoski recreation area offers opportunities for a range of outdoor activities, as well as diverse nature and beautiful scenery. The area is characterised by tall rocky outcrops providing views over both the Palojoki river valley and the seemingly endless forest landscape. From the calm waters of Lake Palojärvi to the flowing Palokoski stream, water is a constant presence in the area.

Palakoski recreation area is located on the shores of Lake Palojärvi in Vihti. Looking out from the tall cliffs, you may feel as though you've stepped into a vast wilderness. The most impressive views can be enjoyed from the Mummusali rest area. The roaring of the nearby Palokoski rapids varies with the season and the amount of rainfall. Be careful on the rocky outcrops—especially at Mummusali—as there are steep drops, and the rocks can be slippery when wet.
The easiest way to explore the area is by following the marked trails. The terrain is challenging due to the topography.
The Mummusali viewpoint has benches for resting, and there is a dry toilet and an information board in the parking area. There are no campfire sites at this recreation area.
