Restoration of aquatic nature continues in Hossa

05/26/2025

In recent years, the restoration efforts in Hossa National Park have focused especially on aquatic nature: mires, streams, and spring areas. This year, mire restoration will continue starting from the last week of May.

Restoration sites 2025

The sites are located in the western parts of the national park, along the Pajupuro and Syrjä-Somero streams. In addition to restoring the hydrology of the mires, the aim is to improve the condition of the numerous spring areas found in the drained regions and to prevent the transport of solid matter and nutrients caused by drainage into the park’s clear waters. At Syrjä-Somero, a stream that was once dredged for log floating will also be restored.
